Even though there have been plentry of examples for Swedish death metal bands who didn't intend to sound exactly like how usually Swedish death metal sounds like, it's still quite extraordinary to find bands with different ambitions.
Morbus Chron debuted with an album that by not following the local tendencies, and by successfully recalling the feeling of the early '90s could be sorted to the nostalgic wave, next to names like Death Breath, Mordant, Witchery or Paganizer's "Deadbanger". The difference could be that Morbus Chron was more specified into an exact direction that probably have Autopsy's influence in it's main focus. The ominous melodies, doomy slow downs, sudden speed ups, and the endlessly sick atmosphere keeps remindig to "Severed Survival" or "Mental Funeral" all the time. And that makes "Sleepers in the Rift" also to an Autopsy nostalgia album, that fits next to the releases of Funeral, Bonesaw, Anatomia, or Mausoleum. In general the album became quite intense, and the frequently scheduled slow downs creating great contrast but also balance with the fast hammering, cause this switching puts the advantageous effects of both into highlight, and makes the main view diverse. "Sleepers in the Rift" was well composed and stunning debut.
