Similar to Death and Asphyx, Autopsy was one of those old school death metal bands, who's disappearence have left behind some emptiness in the metal scene, that many fans and musicians felt that it was needed to be fulfilled.
While the former Asphyx members solved the problem themselves under various new bands, and the Death nostalgia came back by new bands for real, Autopsy was recalled in both ways. Funeral was a short lived project of Eric Cutler, so the band offered authentic Autopsy nostalgia for the old fans. They didn't make it until a full-lenght release, but a compilation album came out probably posthumously. Even though most of the songs were quite short, because maybe some were not completed, and the songs of the second part of the album are demo/rehearsal records; they successfully catched the old, endlessly sick feeling. The same slow, doom influenced, ominous themes have returned, to balance between heavy sickness and outrageous, raw aggressiveness. The demo songs remained instrumental, but still they somehow sound more whole than the first part of the album (from the perspective of an imaginary "how to sound more like Autopsy competition"). The compilation is short, but satisfying, especially for the old fans who missed new material by this sound during the years.
