Herem - II (2011)

Herem continued from where they left the line on their debut. Their brillantly composed mix of stoner/sludge/doom didn't change (and also didn't need to change) much on their returning album.
However in this style a small change is also able to open wider perspectives than how it could be expected. Compared to "Pulsa diNura" the band focused on the atmosphere and on the melancholic approach, and the more intense groovy themes have nearly gone. By this step the stoner influences had smaller role than before, and their music drifted closer to sludge/doom. The atmospheric effects were assisted by softer melodies and occasional background singing. In the long run these features resulted a stronger down pulling effect, especially as they usually paired with noisy sludgy contrast. From this point another kind of contrast could be discovered: the aesthetic introduction of melancholy on the side of the obscure heaviness. Two different aspects of the same thing, but during the extended song lenghts always the second comes up as the main direction. Great leading themes guiding the listener through the heaviness from one easing slow down to the other, so even though the album has definitely strong depressing touch, it's not too hard to go into.
