Stench - In Putrescence (2010)

Stench was formed by members of Tribulation, and fortunately unlike in most cases of side projects, this didn't became exactly like the members main band.
Still some analogy is possible to find, compared to the Tribulation debut, "The Horror". Stench had similar concept, but by a different approach. They focused on a more putrid sound performed by classic thrashy themes, that are frequently turning more exaggerated and aggressive. This style shows similarities both with a direction that intents to recall an '80s old school deeling (like Death Breath an old Paganizer), and with a blackened Marduk influenced intensity (in case of the wilder speed ups). However the first direction becomes dominant, and like at other similar bands the outcome is a sound that could be called as ancient and mixed the same time. A style that effects like bringing back the listener to the cross-roads of extreme styles. Like being dropped out on an alternative '80s timeline, because in reality that time the cross-roads sounded differently. Still the nostalgia impression is enough strong to not close out the possibility. The impressing obscureness of the album lies on the ongoing intensity, that also could be taken as a returning feature from Tribulation's debut. "In Putrescence" might be enjoyable for the fans of old school thash influenced death and black metal.
